About The Authors
Tim "Paddler" Hewitt

Paddler Tim "Paddler" Hewitt thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail northbound in 1999. He was born in Tacoma, Washington and grew up hiking the Olympics and Cascades of Washington State. An avid outdoorsman, hiking the AT was a lifelong dream, nurtured through numerous hiking, backpacking and canoe trips all over the country.

Unconditional support for Tim's adventure came from his wife Wendy, his children David, Jennifer and Thomas, his in-laws BJ and Kay Thompson, and his employer, Fairchild Semiconductor. Though everyone doubted Tim's sanity, they all supported him in his goal to walk 2100 miles from Springer to Katahdin.

Tim is currently working as a computer engineer, and has spent time living and hiking in the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest, and most recently the Northeast. A book on his thru-hike is in the works, tentatively titled; Take a Hike; One Man's Long Walk on the Appalachian Trail. He is also serving as editor to Appalachian Trail Stories, Volume I.

Tim can be reached by email at paddler@trailstories.com and would love to hear from you.
